MY ROLE
Game Designer & Controller Prototyper
PERIOD
November 2017 – December 2017 (1 month)
PROJECT DESCRIPTION
Saylorz is an alternative controller game. We wanted to create a cooperative experience of pirates sailing a boat with their weights only while shooting at icebergs and aggressive whales.
I was in charge of the construction of the boat itself, after having all the team agree on the mechanics.
I also worked closely with industrial designers to conceive a more presentable version of our awesome boat.
WHAT HAPPENED
+ We all were really excited about this project, and even though we knew it was going to be challenging, we fully assumed our ideas. We also distributed the tasks cleverly, as we all had our own specialty, making us very complimentary.
+ We all had to take a lot of our personal time for this project because the scope was pretty important. Hence, we didn’t have much time to playtest our game, a thing we absolutely needed to do flawlessly, because of the nature of our concept.
WHAT I LEARNED
Even for short projects, it is absolutely important to define a bearable scope for all the team, in order to avoid neglecting parts of the game development process.
